Those Service Charges
Our rents and service charges are going up from 6 April.
As we warned in our last newsletter and at the Tenants Association meeting, Hyde’s service charge increases are outrageous. Residents in some blocks are being asked to pay double!
Particularly outrageous are the continuing irrational charges we are being levied for communal electricity (the external and staircase lights), which the TA has been complaining about for over three years now, and new charges for fire safety and legionella (a waterborne disease which can spread from communal water tanks) which have been introduced without any consultation or explanation.
And the standard of the cleaning and gardening work carried out on the Estate most certainly does not justify any increase.
A number of residents have complained to us about the service charges and it is important that you voice those complaints to Hyde at customerservices@hyde-housing.co.uk or by writing to the Hyde Group at Long Lane Studios, 142-152 Staple Street, London SE1 4BS.
The TA officers have demanded an explanation and a justification for the increases and will be meeting senior Hyde officers later this month. We will keep you posted on what happens.
Are You Permitted?
From Monday 23 March, where you can park on the Estate will be enforced by Ticketing Service Solution Ltd (TSS) on behalf of Hyde Southbank. Patrols will be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you haven’t got a valid permit or park in the wrong place you will receive a Parking Charge Notice of £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days).
Don’t wait! Get your parking permit from the Housing Office NOW!
If you paid for your permit when Hyde was not enforcing parking, you may be entitled to a payment of £45 as a good will gesture.
Proposed Development of Harleyford Street & Kennington Park Community Centre site
An exhibition of Hyde’s latest proposals is being held in the Community Centre on Monday 16 March from 6pm to 8pm. This could affect everyone on the Estate so please attend if you can.
