Local traffic and transport plans and work

We receive frequent updates on the various work being carried out around our Estate, particularly the Northern Line Extension and the highways work around the Oval. The latest bulletins are about work on the Northern Line Extension at Kennington Green closing down for the holiday season (sighs of relief from the neighbours!) and upgrade work that’s starting at Waterloo Station. They (and future such bulletins) can now be found here.

Vauxhall Cross consultation & Our Vauxhall alternative masterplan

Transport for London is holding public consultation on the redevelopment of Vauxhall Cross.  You can fill out their survey online at this page – scroll ALL the way to the bottom: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/vauxhall-cross When I visited the KOV Forum meeting, a lot of local residents were raising serious concerns about TfL’s proposals.  In fact, an alternative masterplan for the area has been created, and can be viewed here: http://www.ourvauxhall.com Our Vauxhall have a ‘support us’ page on their website – you can copy and paste their letter of support to Lambeth Council.  Image of the Our Vauxhall scheme below. UPDATE!! Local representatives Kate Hoey MP and Cllr Jack Hopkins have expressed their views on the proposals and they can be found by clicking here for Kate Hoey and here for Jack Hopkins.

Save Oval by Create Streets

I had the opportunity to see a presentation by Create Streets for an alternative masterplan to the OAKDA gas holder site.  Create Streets are counteracting Berkeley’s proposals with their own design, which they have called Save Oval.  This is exciting – the Save Oval scheme seems to raise a lot of points that I myself have queried. You can find more information on the Save Oval masterplan here: http://www.saveoval.com/ And you can take part in the Save Oval consultation by clicking on the link on the above page.

KOV Forum Meeting 2nd December 2015

It was great to participate in a very lively Kennington, Oval & Vauxhall Forum meeting on Wednesday night.  The hall was absolutely packed! We were joined by our MP Kate Hoey, to discuss the proposed consultation for redevelopment of Vauxhall Cross, with a presentation by Transport for London. The second half of the meeting saw a presentation by Berkeley Homes for the OAKDA gas holder site.  This was followed by a presentation of an alternative masterplan scheme by Create Streets.  More on this to follow on the blog…

Save Durning Library!

Lambeth Council is consulting on which of Durning or Tate South Lambeth libraries should become a new Town Centre library for the north of the borough. This choice is being forced on the Council by the Government’s cuts to local authorities and is not a choice anyone wants to make. However, if Durning is supported, then TSL will become one of Lambeth’s proposed “bookish gyms”. If TSL is supported, then Durning will close. Most KPE residents use Durning as it is closer to us. The Consultation deadline is 11pm on 21 December. Complete the questionnaire here: http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/consultations/durning-library-and-tate-south-lambeth-library-consultation
