Doing up the Neighbourhood

A message from Lambeth Council about the Oval Neighbourhood Enhancement Programme Dear resident, This is an opportunity to design your neighbourhood with friends, neighbours and Lambeth staff. In the spring we sent you postcard style questionnaires asking you what you liked and disliked about your streets. General issues raised from the Oval area were: Street greening Cycle parking Secure cycle storage Effective speed reducing measures Traffic Calming Bins There will be a consultation in the early autumn, where all residents in the area will be given an opportunity to say which of the proposed improvements they prefer. There will be a statutory consultation and decision making process towards the end of the year. How can you get involved? Two local residents associations, TARA (Tradescant Road area) and IMPACT (Claylands Green area) have held events where residents showed their own photos of what they like and what they dislike in our…

Spring Cleaning!

Now the sun’s out, it’s time to brighten up the ‘Hood! Lambeth Council wants to know how we would like to improve our neighbourhood! They’ve contacted the TA about two schemes: The Neighbourhood Enhancement Programme (NEP) and Community Freshview. The NEP has funding from TFL to pay for improving local streets, doing things like repairing pavements, traffic slowing measures, cycling improvements, planting trees and flowers. The Community Freshview project involves local residents getting together to brighten up the place, install planters, paint scruffy patches and give the area a bit of a facelift. Lambeth provides the material – we provide the workers! The recent resurfacing of Magee Street was done as part of these schemes. Let us have your ideas of what you would like to see done around the Estate via the Contact Us box on the right and we will pass them on to the Council.
